Trump's State of the Union 2018 - live updates: Melania to attend, will Donald mention education or health care?

Donald Trump is expected to trumpet the US economy in his State of the Union speech to Congress on Tuesday.

The President will ceremonially kick off his second year in office at 9pm ET (2am GMT) with his pitch to the American people likely to tout his flagship tax legislation and jobs figures. It will come as his approval rating hovers in the 30s.

Following the speech the Democrats' response will be given by Joe Kennedy III, a Massachusetts congressman and grandson of Robert F Kennedy, who will say his colleagues must focus on the economic worries of working-class voters who deserted the party in the 2016 election.
