Trump's spokeswoman calls him 'President Obama' in DACA press briefing

Sarah Huckabee Sanders calls President Trump "President Obama"

US press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders has slipped up, referring to Donald Trump as "President Obama" while fronting the media about the dismantling of the Dreamers program.

During the White House address, Ms Huckabee Sanders criticised the Obama administration's introduction of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.

She then muddled up the names of the former and current leaders.

"But rather than leave DACA recipients and men and women of immigration enforcement in confusing limbo, while the DACA program was challenged by states in the same court that struck down another of the previous administration's unlawful immigration orders earlier this year, President Obama is laying out a responsible 24-month phase-out — sorry, President Trump," she said.

Ms Huckabee Sanders was quickly corrected by reporters.

She laughed it off before almost making the mistake a second time.

"These are not just President Ob - President Trump's priorities, they are the American people's priorities," she said.

Supporters of Mr Obama quickly took to social media to point out the slip.
