U.S. President Donald Trump enjoyed an informal dinner with Prime Minister Shinzo Abe at a robatayaki charcoal grill restaurant in the Roppongi district of Tokyo on Sunday.

The government had considered taking Trump to a steakhouse, however, the robatayaki restaurant was chosen because the thinking was that Trump would be tired of just having meat.

The dinner at Roppongi Inakaya East Shop had Trump and Abe sitting at the corner of a counter. Trump's wife, Melania, sat beside the president, and Abe's wife, Akie, sat beside the prime minister.

Trump received the first dish, grilled potatoes with butter, on a big rice paddle outstretched by a chef.

"We've had a great time," Trump said.

Abe added, "We want to exchange ideas while taking our time and relaxing."

What was for dinner?

--Grilled potatoes with butter

--Salad

--Skewered young chicken

--Wagyu steak with broccoli and carrots

--Vanilla ice cream
