Donald Trump and his minions’ next target is Portland, Oregon. In a speech on Tuesday that was frothingly crazy even by his standards, Trump told gathered military leaders that the city is now a “war zone”, comparing the current situation to the European theater of World War II.
As such, Portland will become “training grounds for our military”, asking generals to prepare themselves to use lethal force against their fellow Americans. The pretext for all this is demonstrations outside of an ICE facility two miles out of Portland, with Trump explaining:
“At the request of Secretary of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem, I am directing Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth, to provide all necessary Troops to protect War ravaged Portland, and any of our ICE Facilities under siege from attack by Antifa, and other domestic terrorists. I am also authorizing Full Force, if necessary.”
Now, as per a new report from CNN, this justification for sending the troops into Portland with live ammunition is being exposed as a “pretext”. They say these protests are extremely useful for Trump, who actually wants to use the military to humiliate Democratic-supporting cities and smash some heads as part of his “crime crackdown”.
More recently, Trump underlined his plans, painting the city as having descended into Mad Max-style anarchy, meaning he has “NO CHOICE” but to invade:
The agents of chaos
Democratic Sen. Jeff Merkley says he’s exposing the reality behind this so-called chaos, apparently having proof that there are agents provocateurs in Portland on the president’s orders, aiming to cause enough trouble to warrant military intervention. As he said:
“The president has sent agents here to create chaos and riots here in Portland, to induce a reaction. To induce protests. To induce conflicts. His goal is to make Portland look as he was describing it as. Our job is to say, ‘We are not going to take the bait.’”
This is a tried-and-tested tactic to create a pretext for a crackdown. For example, if the cops want an excuse to break up a protest, just send in a cop dressed like a protester to throw some bricks towards the police lines and then charge in with batons high. I guess in Portland, they’re trying to kick up trouble on a larger scale.
Right now, the Portland authorities are determined to protect their status as a “sanctuary city”, which means they’re not going to be out of the White House’s crosshairs anytime soon. But, if Trump’s troops really do act like they’re going into the “warzone” with presidential authorization to open fire on any perceived threats, an already hot situation may be about to boil over.
