Donald Trump’s motorcade was involved in a road accident on Tuesday in Louisiana, according to journalists travelling with the president.
The motorcade reportedly slowed down on its way from Lake Charles to a liquefied natural gas export facility in Hackleberry where he was scheduled to speak.
Reporters spotted at least two officers on the ground. Mr Trump’s vehicle, an armoured limousine, is believed to be fine.
Witnesses said on social media they had seen officers being treated for injuries near the highway, some of them standing or sitting up.
Pool journalist Meridith McGraw reported seeing “two officers standing and being tended to with very bloodied arms as we drove by”.
Images of the crash show one officer in a grassy area between two lanes on the highway, apparently in the process of sitting up. Another shot shows an officer lying down on the side of the road while receiving assistance.
Mr Trump is still expected to speak at the facility, albeit “a little bit late” according to MSNBC.
The president arrived in Louisiana on Tuesday to tour the $10bn export terminal, which will liquefy natural gas for storage and shipping.
