NEW YORK _ President Donald Trump's lawyer reportedly created a private company in Delaware to buy the silence of a porn star who allegedly had an affair with the commander in chief more than a decade ago.
Michael Cohen, the New York-based lawyer, created Essential Consultants LLC on Oct. 17, 2016 to send a $130,000 payment as part of a non-disclosure agreement to Stephanie Clifford's attorney before the presidential election, The Wall Street Journal reported Thursday.
The Journal first reported the nature of the payment last Friday. Cohen and Clifford's lawyer also used pseudonyms to protect their identities in the agreement, according to the newspaper.
Cohen and the White House have denied Trump had a sexual encounter with Clifford _ who goes by Stormy Daniels in adult movies.
He declined to comment about Essential Consultants.
Daniels told InTouch magazine in 2011 she met Trump after a golf tournament in 2006.
"It was textbook generic," Daniels said. "I actually don't even know why I did it, but I do remember while we were having sex, I was like, 'Please, don't try to pay me.'"
