Trump properties like Mar-a-Lago curbing operations and cutting staff because of coronavirus: report

NEW YORK _ Trump properties including Mar-a-Lago, President Donald Trump's winter White House, are curbing operations in response to the deadly pandemic that has infected more than 259,000 people and killed 11,286 worldwide.

Mar-a-Lago, the crown jewel of the Trump empire closed Monday for a deep cleaning and hadn't reopened by Friday. "Multiple" visitors to the club have tested positive for coronavirus, according to CNN.

According to The New York Times, staff has been let go at Trump properties in New York and Washington, D.C., as restaurants grind to a halt. Golf courses in Miami and Los Angeles were also reportedly closed down.

Staff cutbacks will be announced soon, the Times said. How many jobs will be affected is not clear. So far, 40 employees have reportedly lost their jobs at Trump's hotel at Central Park West, which is still taking reservations. Others have seen their shifts shortened.

Trump International Charlotte in Moorsville, N.C., was also open to golfers Friday, according to a member there.
