3. Poor ratings for debate

Preliminary figures indicated that the vice-presidential debate was the least-watched veep debate since 2000, with about 36m prime network and cable viewers, compared with 51m in 2012.

4. Trump in another Playboy video

Journalist Andrew Kaczynski, now of CNN, unearthed a 1994 videotape in which Trump participates in a hunt for Playboy magazine’s “40th anniversary playmate”. Trump asks a fully clothed model whether she has what it takes.

5. Bill Clinton not in love with Obamacare

The former president on Wednesday walked back comments he made Monday about Obamacare being “a crazy system”. Clinton said problems in the law were being exploited by “adversaries of healthcare”.

6. Release the Gore

Former vice-president and climate change Cassandra Al Gore, 68, will reportedly hit the campaign trail for Hillary Clinton this month, with the apparent aim, unnamed Democrats were quoted as saying, of winning over millennials.
