Trump news - Trump went ‘ballistic’ over Twitter ban as impeachment set to move forward on Monday

DC AG suggests Trump could face charges for inciting Capitol riot

Donald Trump has been permanently banned from Twitter after the social media giant said the US president risked a “further incitement of violence”. Extremists are planning more violence ahead of Inauguration Day, experts have warned.

The extraordinary move came just two days after pro-Trump rioters stormed the US Capitol following a rally nearby in which Mr Trump continued to spout baseless conspiracy theories about November’s presidential election being stolen from him. The president is said to be “ballistic” at the decision to ban him.

The insurrection at the Capitol left at least five people dead, including a police officer — there are calls for Officer Brian Sicknick to be posthumously honoured.

A second impeachment of Mr Trump is set to move forward in the House on Monday with more than 180 cosponsors. There are reports a furious Mike Pence has not spoken to Mr Trump since Wednesday’s violence in Washington, DC.
