Donald Trump has claimed that he’s “doing very well” in his civil rape trial brought by E Jean Carroll – as his legal team has declined to put on any defence in the case.
The former president put on a show of confidence when asked why he was at his golf course in Ireland instead of attending the trial in Manhattn.
“The people of Ireland have been great, and we’ve had tremendous success, and I hear we’re doing very well in New York,” he told Sky News.
His comments came as his lawyers confirmed to the court that they will not present a defence case in the trial, where Ms Carroll is suing the former president for battery and defamation.
On Wednesday, jurors heard from a third woman who accused Mr Trump of sexual assault.
Former People magazine journalist Natasha Stoynoff told the court Mr Trump had forcibly kissed her in 2005 when she was at his home to interview his wife Melania. She alleged that the then-businessman and future president had taken her aside into a separate room before trying to kiss her.
The court was also shown the notorious 2005 Access Hollywood tape.
