The president’s announcement on Monday night that US attorney general Bill Barr is to step down from his role as head of the Justice Department before the end of the year was greeted with a hearty “good riddance” by Massachusetts senator Elizabeth Warren, who said Mr Barr had made his office “less justice and more corrupt”.
