Trump news - live: President announces Bill Barr out at DOJ as Biden gives speech after Electoral College vote

President-elect Joe Biden has been urged to take the coronavirus vaccine “as soon as possible” by Dr Anthony Fauci to ensure that he and his deputy Kamala Harris are ready to hit the ground running when they take office in January.

Donald Trump is meanwhile reportedly at odds with his fellow Republicans over the upcoming Georgia Senate run-offs as his campaign continues to fire out fundraising messages in the state that threaten to divert donations away from GOP candidates Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue and towards his own spurious legal challenge war chest.

The president’s announcement on Monday night that US attorney general Bill Barr is to step down from his role as head of the Justice Department before the end of the year was greeted with a hearty “good riddance” by Massachusetts senator Elizabeth Warren, who said Mr Barr had made his office “less justice and more corrupt”.
