
President Donald Trump is ‘desperate’ to pull in more numbers for his farewell event, CNN’s White House correspondent has reported, as he faces his final full day in the White House.
Trump will host the goodbye ceremony just hours before President-elect Biden’s inauguration and is reportedly looking for a boost in numbers after a low level of confirmed attendees.
One of Trump’s final acts in the Oval Office has been to lift Covid travel restrictions on the UK, Ireland, the European Union, and Brazil. This decision is expected to be rapidly reversed by Biden’s team.
It comes as President Trump is expected to issue a slew of 100 pardons, with allies Paul Manafort and Rudy Giuliani tipped for a clemency, as well as rapper Lil Wayne, as reported by The New York Times.
Meanwhile, in a final poll on Mr Trump by CNN, the outgoing president has plunged to his lowest ever approval rating at 34 per cent.
And the fallout from the Capitol riot continues as a woman accused of stealing a laptop from Nancy Pelosi’s office has been arrested by federal authorities.
