Donald Trump could face a criminal investigation over his role in the Capitol riot last month, senior GOP congresswoman Liz Cheney has said.
Ms Cheney, one of the few Republicans in the House to vote for Mr Trump's impeachment, openly questioned whether a tweet by the former president attacking Mike Pence during the insurrection was "a premeditated effort to provoke violence".
There are a lot of questions that have to be answered, and there will be many criminal investigations looking at every aspect," she told Fox News on Sunday.
It comes as it was revealed former UK prime minister Theresa May wanted to call her husband to warn him that she had been photographed holding hands with Mr Trump before it “hit the media”.
A former aide of Ms May explained in a BBC documentary that the awkward encounter unfolded while the then prime minister had visited the White House in 2017 to persuade Mr Trump to make a supportive statement about Nato.
