- US President Donald Trump is scheduled to meet Qatar’s Prime Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani, in New York following an unprecedented Israeli air strike on Doha.
- Mr Trump reportedly had a "heated phone call" with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, expressing his displeasure over the attack, which he deemed "not wise" and unhelpful to US and Israeli goals.
- The US, along with the UN Security Council, has voiced "deep concern" and called for de-escalation, with the Security Council expressing solidarity with Qatar's vital mediating role.
- Qatar’s prime minister said that the Israeli attack "killed any hope" of a hostage deal and described it as an act of "state terror," while Hamas claimed five of its members were killed.
- The meeting between Mr Trump and Mr Thani precedes an emergency Arab-Islamic summit in Doha, convened in response to the airstrikes.
