Trump halts attacks on Iran to resume negotiations

  • The United States and Iran paused their attacks for a second consecutive day on Sunday, with US ambassador Mike Waltz telling Fox News that Donald Trump was "giving talks some space; he's giving it a little bit of room".
  • Oil prices saw a drop, with Brent crude falling by around 5 per cent, as hopes for a diplomatic resolution to the conflict emerged.
  • An oil tanker reportedly exploded after hitting a mine in the Strait of Hormuz, according to Iran 's state-affiliated Tasnim news agency.
  • Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu told Fox News he "fully" backs Donald Trump 's efforts to weaken Iran , adding that if Iran again attacks Israel, directly or with armed proxies, "it will make a terrible mistake".
  • The Pentagon acknowledged an additional 142 service members wounded in the conflict, while four fatalities were restored on the Defence Casualty Analysis System.
