Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, met US President Donald Trump on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Osaka, Japan, reported the Saudi Press Agency on Saturday.
Trump described Saudi-American relations as great, hailing his friendship with the Crown Prince and praising the major accomplishments achieved by the Kingdom, especially in combating terrorism and its financing.
“We’re trying to do our best for our country, Saudi Arabia, and it’s a long journey,” said Crown Prince Mohammed.
“We have worked together with you and made several great unprecedented achievements on the political, military and economic levels and I believe this will contribute to the GDP and provide jobs and security for the people of both countries,” added the Saudi royal.
Discussions focused on trade, economic and military relations between the Kingdom and US and the joint interests they are reaping from them.
They also covered bilateral ties and joint coordination on regional developments.
A White House statement said they discussed “Saudi Arabia’s critical role in ensuring stability in the Middle East and global oil markets, the growing threat from Iran, increased trade and investments between the two countries, and the importance of human rights issues.”
The Saudi delegation at the talks included head of the National Guard Prince Abdullah bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Assaf and State Minister for Foreign Affairs Adel al-Jubeir.
The American delegation included Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, National Security Adviser John Bolton and White House senior adviser Jared Kushner.
