Trump finally snaps, exposes his plot to send former buddy Elon Musk ‘back to South Africa’ to save America’s ‘fortune’

The on-and-off bromance between Donald Trump and Elon Musk is off again — and this time, it’s actually not about nonsense. Genuinely, the only shocking thing about this entire debacle is that we have finally found out what Musk’s fallout with Trump is actually about.

The “One Big Beautiful Bill” is still crawling through the Senate in a marathon voting session, and if it passes, it’ll head back to Congress. The bill is deeply contentious, with Republicans trying to mix in populist proposals like removing taxes from tips while also sneaking in provisions like stripping away AI regulations. It’s a convoluted 900+ page document that even some representatives have admitted they only voted for because they were rushed to tow the party line. Luckily, Senator Chris Murphy is breaking it down for the public one tweet at a time.

Musk has been very vocal about his distrust of whether this bill will actually benefit Americans in the long run. His stated reason is that he believes economists’ warning that the bill will balloon the national deficit. But where Musk got in the president’s crosshairs was when he took to X and declared that all the representatives who voted for the bill “should hang their head in shame,” then suggested he would ensure they lose their primaries next year.

That’s when Trump lost it. It’s worth noting that Trump wasn’t even this upset when Musk alleged he was on the Epstein files. That time, he even publicly wished the Tesla CEO well. Trump jumped onto X immediately and started tearing apart Musk’s business dealings. He suggested that Musk’s real issue with the bill is that there’s no EV mandate in Trump’s administration — a promise Trump claims he has always made clear in his campaign.

Trump claimed that Elon Musk always knew this, then told the nation that Musk has been the beneficiary of state subsidies for most of his business career. In classic hyperbolic Trump fashion, he called Musk “the most subsidized human being in history,” adding, “Without subsidies, Elon would probably have to close up shop and head back to South Africa.”

Trump even suggested that maybe it’s Elon Musk that DOGE should look into, declaring, “Our country could save a fortune.” Trump eviscerated his former ally, and it’s clearer than ever that this relationship is now beyond repair. Musk, for his part, returned to X to post a graph about the national debt, continuing to pretend that’s why he’s upset about the bill. Because, you know, if Musk is known for anything, it’s apparently his benevolent worry about the fiscal health of the nation.

Meanwhile, Tesla stock is still tanking, down 15% as of early next month when Musk and Trump’s first feud erupted. Musk cares about his companies first and foremost, and he will do whatever it takes to protect them. If there’s anything to take from this latest apparent lovers’ quarrel, it’s that this is where Musk’s real concerns lie. Neither he nor Trump is concerned about anyone but themselves.
