Donald Trump addresses election rigging in Meet the Press interview

Donald Trump has taken to Truth Social to troll Chris Christie over the “beachgate” scandal as the US is on track for another government shutdown.

The former president shared the notorious images of the former New Jersey governor sunbathing on a beach in 2017 while beaches were closed due to a state government shutdown.

He branded Mr Christie – a one-time ally turned 2024 rival – a “grifter” as he also urged Republicans to “use the power of the purse” as Congress continues to spar over spending bills.

Mr Trump held a rally in Dubuque, Iowa, on Wednesday where he said he would win “three” presidential elections – once again pushing the lie that he beat President Joe Biden in 2020.

The same day, Donald Trump Jr’s X account was hacked, sharing a post claiming his father was “dead” and that his son was running in 2024.

Meanwhile, Cassidy Hutchinson, a former aide to Mr Trump’s ex-Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, has claimed Rudy Giuliani sexually assaulted her on the day of the January 6 Capitol riot.

An adviser to Mr Giuliani forcefully rejected the allegations to The Independent.
