Trump Campaign Struggles To Refocus Message Amid Democratic Convention

As the Democratic convention kicks off in Chicago, the Trump campaign is working to regain its footing after struggling to adjust to Vice President Kamala Harris at the top of the opposing ticket. Trump is embarking on a busy campaign week with events in battleground states focusing on topics where Republicans believe they have an advantage.

Despite attempts to pivot to policy-focused speeches, Trump's remarks often veer into his typical rally style, overshadowed by outbursts and attacks. Allies have expressed concerns that Trump's personal attacks on Harris may harm his chances in what they view as a winnable race.

Republican Senator Lindsey Graham emphasized the importance of policy over personality, urging Trump to concentrate on the economy, national security, and immigration. Some rally attendees echoed this sentiment, calling for a focus on issues rather than personal attacks.

During a recent event in New Jersey discussing the economy, Trump initially stayed on message but later reverted to personal attacks against Harris, disregarding advice to run a more disciplined campaign. His comments about Harris and the Congressional Medal of Honor have drawn criticism from opponents and veterans.

Despite recent setbacks, Trump's campaign remains confident in his chances, aiming to portray Harris as a liberal extremist and highlight policy differences on key issues. The campaign plans to intensify efforts in battleground states to contrast Trump's vision with what they perceive as Harris' weaknesses.

As voters weigh their options, some express concerns about Trump's focus on personal attacks and urge him to shift towards a more policy-oriented approach. With the election drawing closer, both campaigns are ramping up their efforts to sway undecided voters and secure victory in November.
