Trump Campaign Raises 8.7M In July Fundraising

Recent reports indicate that the Republican former President Donald Trump's campaign and its affiliated groups have raised $138.7 million in July. This amount falls short of the fundraising success of Vice President Kamala Harris, who garnered significant support during the opening week of her White House bid.

As the election draws closer, Trump's campaign boasts a substantial $327 million in cash reserves heading into August. On the other hand, Harris' campaign has yet to disclose its July fundraising figures or the total amount in its campaign funds. However, Harris' entry into the race has evidently energized her supporters, leading to a surge in donations and volunteer engagement.

Notably, Trump's campaign, along with the Republican National Committee and other associated entities, had previously raised $331 million in the preceding three-month period ending in June. The July fundraising figures exceeded this pace, possibly buoyed by significant events such as an assassination attempt on Trump during a rally in Pennsylvania on July 13. This incident rallied his supporters, along with the subsequent announcement of Ohio Sen. JD Vance as his running mate at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee.

Following President Joe Biden's decision to withdraw from the reelection race and endorse Harris on July 21, her campaign experienced a surge in donations. Within the first week of Biden's announcement, Harris' team reported receiving $200 million in contributions. This development has reshaped the dynamics of the upcoming election, with Harris intensifying her campaign efforts through increased travel and a robust advertising strategy highlighting her personal narrative and critiquing Trump.

With the Democratic National Convention set to commence on August 19 in Chicago, Harris is poised to secure her party's formal presidential nomination through a virtual delegate voting process. Additionally, she is expected to announce her running mate around the same time, further solidifying her campaign ahead of the November election.
