Trump Campaign Considers Strategy To Drive Wedge Between Arab American Voters

U.S. President Donald Trump, left, and Democratic presidential candidate former Vice President Joe Biden attend the second and final presidential debate Oct. 22, 2020, at Belmont University in Nashvil

Welcome back. The Trump campaign is considering a strategy to try to drive a deeper wedge between Arab American and Muslim voters and President Biden. The idea is to run ads in heavily Muslim Michigan communities thanking President Biden for standing with Israel. Over 100,000 Michigan voters chose uncommitted instead of choosing Biden in the Democratic primary last week.

Democratic Congressman Dan Kildee of Michigan expressed that President Biden needs to do more to address the concerns of those who voted uncommitted. Many of these voters share views on the Israel-Hamas war that align with Kildee's own perspectives. Kildee emphasized the importance of President Biden engaging more with the Arab and Muslim community to understand their concerns and incorporate them into the U.S. position on Middle East issues.

Kildee highlighted a significant distinction between President Biden's approach to Middle East matters and that of former President Donald Trump. He hopes that the differences in their approaches will become apparent to voters. Kildee stressed the necessity for President Biden to have direct conversations with Arab and Muslim communities to gain firsthand insights into their perspectives.
