Trump asked a child if he could beat him in a fight. Americans quickly decided in a new poll

Fourty-five percent of Americans believe Trump would win a hypothetical fight against an 8-year-old boy, while 31% thought the child would win, according to a YouGov poll conducted on Wednesday.
This poll followed an incident where Trump asked an 8-year-old boy if he thought he could beat him in a fight during an announcement for the Presidential Physical Fitness Award.
Responses were largely split along party lines, with 54% of Democrats favoring the 8-year-old and 72% of Republicans backing Trump.
Two other YouGov polls revealed that 66 percent of respondents believed an 'average American' would win against Trump, and 55 percent thought they themselves would win.
The article also notes Trump's history with combat sports, including hosting a UFC event at the White House, and his past use of violent rhetoric.
