Trump appears to hand 60 Minutes host big book with blank pages as proof of healthcare plan

Donald Trump appeared to give 60 Minutes journalist Lesley Stahl a giant book with blank pages as proof of his healthcare plans.

The President tweeted a series of pictures of Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany presenting the host with a large tome, which he said included "some of the many things we've done for healthcare."

He added: "Lesley had no idea!"

And it's possible she still doesn't.

Further inspection of the final photo in the set appears to show at least some of the pages of the book are entirely blank.

The exchange followed claims that the interview descended into drama, with the President ending the conversation early and refusing to carry on with a later 'walk and talk' alongside Vice President Mike Pence.

President Trump has since threatened to release his own footage of the interview, before the respected TV magazine programme has a chance to air.

It would not be the first time the Trump administration had used blank pieces of paper to appear to be doing more than they are.

Shortly before taking office, Trump called a press conference to prove he was letting go of his business interests before entering the White House.

He claimed stacks of folders full of paper on the stage were part of his plan to separate himself from his businesses.

The pages themselves appeared to be blank.

They had no page numbers or sticky bookmarks to mark individual pages. And they appeared to be A4 sized, rather than the smaller 'legal' size used for contractual documents.

And just last month, while he was in hospital with Covid-19, the President released a photograph of himself signing a piece of paper, to prove he was working hard despite being unwell.

Other than his signature, the paper was blank.
