
President Donald Trump announced on Monday that Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky is expected to visit Washington in the coming weeks to finalize an agreement on a rare earths minerals deal. The two countries are reportedly very close to reaching a deal that would include rare earths and other resources.
During an Oval Office meeting with France’s President Emmanuel Macron, President Trump expressed his eagerness to meet with President Zelensky to sign the agreement. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent confirmed that the agreement is nearing completion, describing it as being on the “one-yard line.”
The finalized draft of the US-Ukraine resources agreement has been presented to the Trump administration, focusing on a reconstruction fund for Ukraine. Technical details, including security guarantees, are expected to be addressed in subsequent discussions.


President Trump also mentioned the possibility of an economic development partnership with Russia but emphasized that his primary focus is on ending the war in Ukraine. He highlighted the potential for economic cooperation between the US and Russia, citing the valuable resources each country possesses.
