The U.S. economy is still limping along but the tariffs brought in by Donald Trump earlier this year only made things worse for the country. Farmers in particular were hit badly by the policy, but the president has a plan to pay them back, using the same money he took from them in the first place.
That’s right, Trump is planning on using the revenue generated from the tariffs he implemented to bail out the farmers. Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office the president announced his plans to “make sure that our farmers are in great shape.”
“We’re going to take some of that tariff money that we made, we’re going to give it to our farmers, who are, for a little while, going to be hurt until the tariffs kick into their benefit.”
Donald Trump has been teasing the day when the tariffs finally kick in but with it being half a year since he brought them in, it feels like that day may never come. However, the president did assure reporters that “we’re taking in a lot of money.” But Trump’s assurances and promises are about as good as dirt. He has a tendency to pull numbers out of thin air so forgive me for not taking him at his word.

BREAKING: After DESTROYING American farmers with reckless tariffs, ⁰Trump ADMITS they hurt them and says his genius plan is to hand them welfare type checks from the very tariffs that caused the damage.
This isn’t leadership. It’s a f*cking scam.

Congress will need to authorize the farm aid package and it is hoped it will be included by lawmakers in the omnibus package due on November 21st as per Politico.
Trump’s plan makes no sense
Obviously it doesn’t take a genius to realize that Trump’s plan is completely illogical. He’s destroyed so many farmers’ livelihoods with his tariffs and now he wants to use that money to bail them out. Are we not just going around in circles at this point?
Actually, this will probably end up costing taxpayers more than if he had just never implemented the tariffs in the first place. “He creates the problem, then pretends to be the hero by “fixing” it with taxpayer money.” Wrote one angry individual on X, “That’s not leadership — it’s a con job on the American people.” Another echoed the sentiment, “He broke the farmers with his reckless tariffs, then bragged about paying them off with their own money.”
Trump claimed it would only be a temporary measure until we see those mythical tariff benefits he keeps promising. However, what happens if his gamble on tariffs doesn’t pay off? It hasn’t so far so why should we expect anything to change in the coming weeks and months? Does Trump really have a plan or is he just winging it? If you ask me I’d say it appears to be the latter.
