Trump administration to ‘ramp up’ efforts to strip Americans of legal citizenship, monthly quotas incoming

When you stand before the flag of the United States of America and recite the Oath of Allegiance, vowing to give up any loyalty to other countries, support and defend the U.S. Constitution and laws, and bear arms or perform civilian service when required by law, you take it seriously

This is arguably the bedrock of American identity, people of all religions, ethnicities, and beliefs stating that they are now a part of the grand American experiment. It’s significant and it means something.

Or, at least, it used to. As per a report in The New York Times, the Trump administration is gearing up to strip Americans of their citizenship – a process known as denaturalization. Trump insists that many of these naturalized American citizens lied on their citizenship applications and therefore their citizenship must be revoked and they must be booted out of the United States.

For an indication of just how much they’re going to push this, the report states that in the eight years since 2017, there were 120 cases where denaturalization was deemed necessary. Trump wants 2026 to have 100-200 denaturalizations per month.

Dark times ahead

They will, of course, argue that this is necessary to remove dangerous criminals, but if you believe they’ll limit it to that, I have a bridge for sale. Trump and his fellow MAGA Republicans have spent months threatening to revoke the citizenship of politicians and activists they don’t agree with. One notable example would be Representative Ilhan Omar, with Trump’s goons practically foaming at the mouth to deport her to Somalia on flimsy pretences.

It’s worth remembering that this crackdown on American citizens is likely being pushed because ICE needs fresh targets to justify its continued existence. First, they came after “illegals”, then after American citizens who were born abroad and became citizens here. Next?

Expect them to zero in on second-generation immigrants born in the country. Eventually (and in the not-too-distant future), I’d bet on them cooking up a pretext to simply strip American citizenship from anyone they don’t like the look of. 2025 was already a nightmarish year for America, but if this news is anything to go by, 2026 is set to become far worse.
