'Truly embarrassed' - Arsenal fans can't believe the latest Lautaro Martinez transfer update

Arsenal fans have expressed their disgust at Tottenham managing to agree a fee for transfer target Lautaro Martinez.

It had been reported for some weeks that the Gunners were interested in the Inter Milan forward as Mikel Arteta attempts to bolster his forward line ahead of the 2021/22 season.

The Argentine emerged as a real option for the north London outfit but their task in convincing him to swap the San Siro for the Emirates Stadium was made even harder on Sunday afternoon.

football.london understands that north London rivals Tottenham have managed to agree a €60m (£50m) fee for the Argentine and could potentially take him to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

It is expected that Fabio Paratici is attempting to sign him as a partner to Harry Kane rather than as a direct replacement, with the Spurs striker continuing to be linked with a move away.

Having been strongly linked with a move for the 23-year-old previously, Arsenal supporters were left incensed that he could potentially be lining up for their rivals instead next season.

Despite Arsenal fans’ frustrations at the situation, it still remains to be seen quite where Martinez will be playing his football next season.

Inter Milan are on the verge of selling Romelu Lukaku to Inter Milan so it could well be unlikely that they would let another of their key forwards go in the same window.

Martinez has just two years remaining on his current contract at the San Siro and was a key reason behind Inter Milan lifting their first Serie A title in ten years last season.
