True unveils all-in-one healthcare app

True Digital Group, a subsidiary of telecom operator True Corporation Plc, has introduced an all-in-one smart healthcare platform linking online and offline health services through an upgraded version of the MorDee mobile app.

The app can be used to consult with doctors online, receive treatment and medicines, and make insurance claims.

It is expected to ease medical service constraints stemming from the country's low rate of doctors per person, as well as reduce the cost of medical services.

Natwut Amornvivat, co-president of True Corporation, said the app serves as a personal physician on a mobile phone, providing easy access to medical services without going to a hospital.

Through the app, users can make video calls, voice calls or online chat with more than 500 doctors and medical experts from 20 medical fields, he said.

The app was developed in collaboration with Chiwiborirak, a company that specialises in medical tele-consultation services.

"The number of doctors in Thailand is around 800 per 1 million people, a ratio which is lower than many other countries, such as Malaysia, Singapore and China," said Mr Natwut.

China has more than 2,000 doctors per 1 million people, despite having the world's largest population.

The app offers six key features, covering appointments for medical consultation, keyword searches that match symptoms with corresponding doctors, medicine delivery, insurance claim services, medical record tracking and a 24-hour help chat to provide app assistance.

The MorDee app can be downloaded through the App Store for iOS, Google Play Store for Android, and Huawei AppGallery for Huawei device users.

After registration, users can search for corresponding medical fields or clinics by typing their symptoms into the keyword search, selecting the recommended doctor or medical expert for consultation, scheduling an appointment, and making payment or a claim from an insurance company directly within the app.

For each consultation, users are given the summary report of the session and can order the prescribed medicines from the app and receive them at home.

True Digital Group also launched "True Health Corner", which provides kiosks for basic health screening, online consultations with doctors, and the purchase of prescribed medicines at 18 locations in Lotus's or Makro stores nationwide.

"Telemedicine has grown in popularity globally as it bridges the physical gap for medical treatment in remote areas, reduces growing health expenses, and meets the demand for digitally accessible healthcare," said Mr Natwut.

True has leveraged cloud technology, the Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, blockchain and robotics to improve people's quality of life and increase access to medical services, he said.
