True toll of Storm Dennis and Ciara on Merseyside

Merseyside has taken a battering over the past two weeks thanks to Storm Ciara and Dennis.

Ciara caused devastation in the region as areas of Merseyside were left under water.

One man was sadly killed by a falling tree in Woolton as 80mph winds swept across the UK.

The severe weather continued with Storm Dennis on Saturday and Sunday as heavy rain and gales caused havoc.

But it was Merseyside’s coasts that took a real beating, as New Brighton and Formby were hit the hardest.

Storm Ciara caused significant damage to the dunes of Formby beach and boardwalk.

Glass bottles, starfish, tennis balls and tree trunks washed up on Merseyside’s shores, while fish and bricks were blown over.

Elsewhere in the UK, a mystery skeleton appeared on an Aberdeen Beach and a huge fin whale beached on the Cornish Coast.
