True Corporation has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for academic cooperation with Thammasat University's Faculty of Medicine, Thammasat University Hospital, and EGG Digital to advance the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare.
The strategic partnership integrates medical expertise, advanced technology and digital solutions to drive Thailand's healthcare AI into reality.
The effort includes establishing the Thammasat-True AI Health Innovation Hub as a national platform for medical AI collaboration, focusing on integrating health data with digital technologies and AI to enhance patient care, streamline administrative operations, and elevate healthcare quality across all dimensions.
Furthermore, the partnership aims to build AI and digital health capabilities among students, faculty and healthcare professionals through customised curriculums co-developed with True Digital Academy, upskilling talent, advancing research, and accelerating practical AI-driven innovations that address real-world health challenges for Thais.
The MoU covers academic collaboration in research, education, workforce development, and the creation of medical innovations, tools and advanced equipment, said True.
The cooperation also promotes medical AI research and innovation, integrating electronic medical record data with EGG Digital's expertise to create health score models and AI clinical intelligence systems for diagnosis, screening, risk assessment, and clinical decision support.
The tie-up aims to develop graduate curriculum in medical digital technology in the Faculty of Medicine, due to launch in the 2027 academic year.
"Leveraging True Digital Academy's expertise, we are co-creating practical learning programmes to build an AI-ready workforce among students, faculty and medical staff," said Sarinra Wongsuppaluk, chief human resources officer at True Corp.
Assoc Prof Auchara Tangsathapornpong, dean of the Faculty of Medicine, said the faculty prioritises building AI and digital health competencies among students, faculty and personnel so they can apply these tools effectively while generating knowledge that meets national healthcare needs, anchored in safety, critical thinking and medical ethics.
Assoc Prof Dilok Piyayotai, director of Thammasat University Hospital, said by unifying personnel, data, technology, research and clinical services via the Thammasat-True AI Health Innovation Hub, the hospital creates a vital engine that will drive the hospital's healthcare AI to the next level, delivering modern, high-quality care for patients and bolstering the national public health system.
Tippawan Vongthammachart, general manager for business analytics AI and consultation at EGG Digital, said the company brings its expertise in data analytics and advanced AI technologies, together with the strong medical and academic foundation of the Faculty of Medicine and Thammasat University Hospital, to advance AI-driven healthcare through two key initiatives.
The first initiative is advancing smart hospital capabilities, while the second initiative focuses on driving a smart campus by strengthening research lab and modelling capabilities through data and AI infrastructure to enhance research accuracy.
