True education makes students humane, says Gujarat governor Acharya Devvrat

AHMEDABAD: Addressing the Best Teachers Awards Distribution Ceremony at a function in Ahmedabad on Sunday, governor Acharya Devvrat said that true education is what makes students wise and humane.

Complimenting teachers on the occasion of Teacher’s Day for selecting teaching as a profession, the governor asked them to introspect and evaluate their decision. The governor recalled that because of India’s ‘guru-shishya’ tradition, society used to be advanced and developed. The student used to be the centre point of the Gurukul system, and not materialism.

Chief minister Vijay Rupani said that teachers are not just government employees but nation builders. He asked the guardians and teachers to change their attitude towards education, since education is the foundation of building a nation. There is need for innovation to strengthen the foundation, necessary for the development of the nation, the CM said.

Education minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama congratulated all award-winning teachers and complimented them for continuing teaching even when the schools had to be closed down during the pandemic.
