Trudi Gatland chokes up with tears as whole family say goodbye to Wales

It's not just Warren Gatland who has had an inextricable relationship with Wales for the past 12 years.

It's his family, too.

In particular, his wife Trudi.

Her job throughout this Rugby World Cup campaign has been to ensure that the player's families are happy, they get to the games on time and are looked after. You can read more about her crucial role here.

On Friday, the day her husband led Wales for the final time as their head coach, it was a day to savour.

In an emotional interview with S4C, filmed shortly before Wales kicked off against the All Blacks, Trudi happily chatted about the tournament so far, the Wales head coach's feelings ahead of the monumental game, and her time with the Welsh families.

Speaking ahead of the game, she said of her husband: "He said 'I'm just going to enjoy it, it literally fells like the final, we're playing the All Blacks, the best team in the world, this should have been the final, let's just treat it like it is'.

"At the end of the game they just want to know they've enjoyed the occasion and they can look themselves in the mirror and go 'that was awesome, we've had a great time'.

"As far as the families are concerned, we've had an awesome time.

"This tour, especially, I really feel like I've got very close to some of them."

Getting visibly emotional, she continued: "It's been so much to celebrate, and they're just passionate

"They just love being together, it's cool, really cool."

And as sports reporter Catrin Heledd signs off with 'Thank you all for everything you've done', Trudi holds back the tears as she replies: "You're welcome, it's been a pleasure".
