Trucks collide head-on due to fog in UP’s Banda, driver killed

KANPUR: A truck driver was killed while the driver and attendant of another truck suffered critical wounds after their vehicles collided head-on due to fog on the Tanda-Banda highway early Sunday in Tindwari area of Uttar Pradesh’s Banda district.

The driver of the gravel-laden truck died on the spot.

While the driver of the other truck and his assistant were referred to the Banda district hospital.

Police identified the deceased truck driver as Santosh Kumar, 33, of Baburma village in Charkhari area of Mahoba, while the injured truck driver has been identified as Ashfaq (40) and his attendant Jairam (35).

Tindwari inspector Narendra Pratap Singh said that the family members of the deceased truck driver have been informed about the incident.

The owners of both the trucks have also been summoned. The vehicles were removed from the road with the help of cranes and traffic has been restored in the area.
