Austrian firefighters were charged with the tricky task of catching thousands of chickens running loose on a motorway, after a transport truck hit a bridge, spilling its freight onto the road.
The Saint Florian Fire Bigrade said emergency services were called to the A1 motorway south of Linz at 5.00am, but had trouble reaching the scene due to heavy traffic caused by the stray chickens.
It took about 120 firefighters four hours to catch the chickens one by one.
While the truck driver escaped uninjured, large numbers of chickens were killed in the accident.
