Truck spills 43,000 lbs cargo of mac and cheese on highway in Nashville

A truck carrying 43,000 pounds of macaroni and cheese overturned on a Nashville highway on Wednesday, spilling the contents of the carrier all over the road.

The accident took place near the intersection of two junctions near Silliman Evans Bridge, Fox 17 reported.

The Community Relations Officer for Tennessee Department of Transportation shared updates and photographs of the incident on Twitter.

Photographs showed the truck tipped on its side with the roof of the unit split open and a pool of dried pasta spilled on the road.

Another photo shows crews working to help clear the "dry pasta", including a skid steer with a full load of pasta in its trough.

According to the outlet, no-one was injured during the accident.

Part of the highway was subsequently blocked while the crew worked to clear the mess and move the wreckage.

Social media users joked that the obstruction was less of an inconvenience and more of an opportunity to collect mounds of their favourite pasta dish.

“Hate to hear it. I’m gonna take a wheelbarrow out there and try to save some of it,” one user posted.

“a semi spilt 40,000 lbs of Mac & Cheese in Nashville .... who wants to go on a road trip? bring your own fork,” another said.

The Tennessean reported that the highway was blocked from around 7.30am until it was reopened as of 1.30pm.
