Truck engulfed in flames on Scots street as emergency crews race to tackle morning blaze

A truck burst into flames on a street near Glasgow this morning, sparking an emergency response.

Mercy crews raced to the scene of the blaze, which took place shortly after 10.30am on Cambuslang's Main Street.

Photos show a fireball erupting from the rear of the vehicle as it is engulfed by the flames.

The aftermath of the incident can then be seen via drone footage which captures the burnt out truck, believed to be a road maintenance vehicle, being hosed down by firefighters.

At least five crew members can be seen surveying the damage at the site.

The road appears to be cordoned off to motorists and pedestrians while traffic continues on the adjacent road.

Rows of cars are parked dangerously close nearby.

Two fire engines were sent to put out the fire, which was successfully extinguished.

It is currently unclear how the fire started.

Scottish Fire and Rescue Service have confirmed that no one was injured as a result of the incident.

A spokesperson said: "We were alerted at 10.36am on Monday, May 30, to reports of a vehicle on fire on Cambuslang's Main Street.

"Operations Control mobilised two appliances to the scene where firefighters extinguished the fire and made the area safe before leaving the scene.

"There were no casualties."
