Truck driver involved in Dubbo fatal crash faces more charges

An additional seven charges have been laid against a truck driver over a fatal crash near Dubbo in central-western New South Wales.

Robert Crockford now faces a total of 17 charges, which include dangerous driving occasioning death and cause bodily harm by misconduct.

The 50-year-old was driving a semi-trailer that crashed into cars queued at roadworks on the Newell Highway in January.

The crash killed Reagen Skinner, 21, and his girlfriend Hannah Ferguson, 19, and left several other people injured.

Mr Crockford, of Queensland, appeared via videolink for a brief mention at the Dubbo Local Court on Wednesday morning.

He sat expressionless with his hands in his lap, and watched on as his lawyer and the Crown asked for more time to examine the additional charges.

Magistrate Paul Hayes adjourned the proceedings to return to the Dubbo Local Court on May 9.

He formally refused bail for Mr Crockford after no bail application was presented to the court.

Mr Crockford has yet to enter a plea to the charges.
