The driver of a semi-trailer involved in a seven-car crash that killed two people in New South Wales has been charged with dangerous and negligent driving.
Police officers arrested Robert Crockford on Friday when he was discharged from hospital, where he was treated for suspected internal injuries and leg fractures.
The 50-year-old truck driver has been charged with 10 offences including four counts of dangerous and negligent driving causing death and has had his license suspended.
Following a brief hearing at Parramatta Bail Court this morning the case was adjourned to Dubbo Court on Tuesday where Mr Crockford will apply for bail.
Hannah Ferguson, 19, and her 21-year-old boyfriend Reagen Skinner died when the semi-trailer collided with four cars, a B-double and a ute on the Newell Highway north of Dubbo in January.
Police will allege the semi-trailer heading south on the highway hit the other vehicles from behind while they were stopped at roadworks.
Eleven people, including a toddler, were injured in the crash and treated at Dubbo Base Hospital.
An 18-year-old man was freed from his car and another person was freed from a truck after both being trapped for more than four hours.
