HYDERABAD: With the political activity picking up steam two years ahead of general elections, the TRS government has decided to expedite the process for the construction of atma gaurava (self respect) bhavans of the 40-plus Backward Classes castes.
A team of ministers from the BC community comprising Gangula Kamalakar, Talasani Srinivas Yadav and V Srinivas Goud on Tuesday held a meeting with various registered BC caste associations and set a target that the works on construction of BC Atmagaurava buildings should start at all costs in January/February 2022.
The BC associations have been given the option of taking up the responsibility of construction of these buildings on their own or the state government would do it for them.
This was informed by the three ministers to them.
BC welfare minister Gangula Kamalakar asked BC castes associations to form a trust with a unanimous resolution and submit a copy of it to the state government before November 17.
A two-day workshop was organised for representatives of different castes to discuss and finalise different aspects.
“No other state government is constructing such bhavans for the welfare of BCs. KCR-government has also established 282 BC gurukuls and is offering free education to over a lakh students from the community, he said.
Excise minister V Srinivas Goud said over 80-plus acres of land parcel in and around Greater Hyderabad, all worth over Rs 4, 000 crore was already allotted to 40-plus BC castes by chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. Nearly Rs 100 crore have also been allocated for its construction.
Animal husbandry minister T Srinivas Yadav said the previous governments had used BCs as vote banks and did not focus on their welfare and development.
