TRS-BJP's tacit understanding has been exposed, alleges Congress MP Revanth

HYDERABAD: The Congress on Tuesday said that the tacit understanding between the TRS and the BJP has been exposed as TRS MPs neither attended the opposition parties' meeting convened by Rahul Gandhi in Delhi nor they questioned Narendra Modi-led BJP government in Parliament about Centre taking control of Godavari and Krishna river management in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

Addressing a media conference in Delhi, Telangana Congress president and Malkajgiri MP A Revanth Reddy and TPCC campaign committee chairman and ex-MP Madhu Yashki Goud said 15-days have passed but TRS MPs did not raise their voice against Modi-government in the Parliament to protect the river water interests of Telangana.

“The TRS MPs' absence from opposition parties meeting in Delhi is a testimony to the TRS and BJP being two sides of the same coin. The Congress has been telling the people that chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao-led TRS has always supported the Modi-government on demonetisation, GST and other anti-people policies. The Congress stand has been vindicated,” Revanth said.

However, TRS MP G Ranjith Reddy slammed Revanth and Madhu Yashki stating it was only on Monday that he got an opportunity to ask the centre about Telangana state’s rightful share of river water. “Also, it was our leader KCR who had called for the formation of the federal front, an umbrella of non-BJP and non-Congress led parties. In such a case, how can any one expect TRS MPs to participate in Rahul Gandhi’s breakfast meeting. The TRS is watching the developments and would make its move to protect the interests of Telangana people as and when required,” Ranjith said.

Revanth along with MPs from other parties went on a cycle rally from Constitution Club to Parliament in protest against rising prices of petrol, diesel and gas, Pegasus-phone hacking scam among other issues.

Revanth alleged that TRS MP J Santosh Kumar led a delegation of party MPs and met the Prime Minister on the first day of the monsoon session of Parliament. “KCR should tell the people whether the TRS has mortgaged the interests of Telangana to the Modi-government to escape investigation by central agencies or whether they spoke about protecting the interests of Telangana,” Revanth demanded.

Revanth further alleged that the proposed padayatra of BJP state president Bandi Sanjay from August 9 was postponed under pressure from the ruling TRS. On KCR-led cabinet nominating P Kaushik Reddy to the legislative council under Governor’s quota, Revanth none of the BJP leaders were criticising the TRS for sending a fresh turncoat to the Council.
