Troy Parrott the pitch invader, Steven Bergwijn's family meet Jose Mourinho and Rodri bamboozled

Alderweireld's huge cheer

Spurs were very lucky to still be on level terms shortly after the restart as Man City missed another glorious chance on goal.

Having seen his penalty saved by Hugo Lloris in the first half, it was Ilkay Gundogan who again fluffed his lines.

The chance came after a mix up outside the box between the goalkeeper and Japhet Tanganga presented Sergio Aguero with an opportunity on goal.

Tottenham transfer window verdict

The Argentine's shot was blocked on the line by Toby Alderweireld but his clearance only went as far as Sterling in the box.

The England international decided to square the ball to Gundogan for a simple finish only to see him blaze over the crossbar from point-blank range.

Spurs really were living on the edge and Alderweireld let out a massive cheer in front of the home fans after the German midfielder had blasted over.

It was a huge relief for the defender and his teammates to see the visitors spurn another golden chance.

Bergwijn's reception

It wasn't a bad debut at all for Steven Bergwijn as he scored an outstanding goal against the reigning Premier League champions.

Chesting the ball down and volleying a sublime effort past Ederson, the Dutchman wouldn't be on the pitch for much longer as he went down with cramp.

Erik Lamela was the man to replace the new signing but Bergwijn actually had to exit the pitch on the far side as he was so far away from the dugouts.

That meant he got a wonderful reception from the Spurs faithful as he made his way past the South Stand and back towards the bench.

He fully deserved his ovation after a great showing.

Troy Parrott the pitch invader

Bergwijn's goal highlighted the great bond between the players at Tottenham as they ran over to celebrate with him.

Wheeling off in delight after finding the bottom corner on his debut, the 22-year-old was soon joined by his teammates as they piled on top of him.

A few who weren't even part of the matchday squad were also involved in the celebrations as they clearly didn't want to be left out.

Troy Parrott was one of those to make his way over to his teammates to join in with the celebrations, while Michel Vorm was also another one to do likewise.

Ndombele bamboozles Rodri

Spurs fans haven't really seen a lot of Tanguy Ndombele in action in recent weeks due to the hip injury he sustained at Southampton on New Year's Day.

An unused substitute against Norwich and Southampton, the Frenchman finally got some minutes on the pitch as he replaced Dele Alli in the closing stages.

The substitute made an instant impression on proceedings with some good runs and he also wowed fans following a sublime turn.

Picking up the ball in midfield, the ex-Lyon man powered forward and left Rodri for dead with a quick shuffle to move further upfield.

Hopefully fans will see a bit more of the player on Wednesday when they face Saints in their FA Cup fourth round replay.

Mourinho meets Bergwijn's family

The Spurs boss was one of the first to head out of Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as his players remained in the changing room.

Mourinho, with a backpack and suitcase in tow, bumped into Bergwijn's family as he made his way through the mixed zone to get to the lift.

He stopped for a good couple of minutes and had a quick word about the winger's performance as he spoke with Bergwijn's parents and brother.

They also posed for a couple of photos together to mark the occasion and they will no doubt be treasured after a day to remember for the new signing.
