Troy Parrott suffers penalty heartbreak while Adam Idah nets in Tottenham's defeat to Norwich

Two of Ireland's young stars had contrasting fortunes as Norwich dumped Spurs out of the FA Cup on penalties.

Norwich attacker Adam Idah was introduced after 72 minutes while Tottenham's Troy Parrott replaced Dele Alli in extra-time.

Spurs fans greeted Dubliner Parrott's introduction with a huge ovation - seemingly making a point to Jose Mourinho, who has suggested the teenager isn't yet ready.

But it was a difficult night for the 19-year-old, who was afforded just 15 minutes to make an impression, before seeing his penalty saved by Norwich keeper Tim Krul in the 3-2 shootout defeat.

Cork native Idah fared better, converting his spot-kick.

Krul saved from Parrott and Gedson Fernandes, with Erik Lamela also missing for Tottenham.

It had ended 1-1 after 120 minutes as Jan Vertonghen's early header was cancelled out by Josip Drmic, who capitalised on a fatal error by Spurs goalkeeper Michel Vorm, who was playing his first game in 18 months.

The hosts were pressing in extra-time, but Mourinho's men are out and in danger of seeing their season unravel.

For Norwich, it is a first FA Cup quarter-final since 1992 and they will now face Derby or Manchester United in a welcome distraction from their relegation fight.
