Troy Parrott stretchered off with injury during Tottenham Under-23s game

Troy Parrott was carried off on a stretcher playing for Tottenham’s Under-23 tonight.

And that is set to scupper any involvement he might have had in the Republic of Ireland’s Under-17 European finals campaign.

The FAI were waiting to hear from Spurs tomorrow as to whether the highly-regarded striker would join Colin O’Brien’s squad today ahead of Friday’s opening game against Greece.

But the 17-year-old required eight minutes of treatment on the pitch before being stretchered off with a suspected leg injury in the 3-1 win over Derby County.

Parrott was not named in O’Brien’s 19-man squad earlier today but could have been supplemented prior to Friday’s game in Tallaght.

But there appears to be no chance of that now.

Earlier, O’Brien had said: “If Troy’s available, he’ll be an addition, we haven’t had him all season but we have others ready to go.”

Tottenham will discover the full extent of Parrott’s injury tomorrow.

The striker is also eligible for the U19 Euro finals in July, the U21s tournament in Toulon and is also on senior boss Mick McCarthy’s radar.
