Troy Parrott set to commit long-term future to Tottenham with new contract

Troy Parrott's long-term future at Tottenham Hotspur looks set to be confirmed with the club hopeful he will put pen to paper on a fresh deal next month, the Evening Standard reports.

Dubliner Parrott has attracted interest from German giants such as Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund this season.

But with just a year and a half left on his current deal, the highly-rated 17-year-old striker has held talks over an extension with the North London club and, all going well, could sign a multi-year deal when he turnsa 18 on February 4.

Spurs boss Jose Mourinho believes it's in Parrott's best interests to stay and continue his development at a club that cares for their young talent.

"The next step for him is to sign a new contract at the club long-term and then it is for everyone to decide what is best for his development," he said.

"In this club we care about our players. It is also to find the best pathway to develop.

"Some minutes will arrive like it happened against Burnley, and step by step but [we are] not in a situation where we see Harry Kane is injured and Parrott is the man to resolve our problems."
