Troy Parrott having Preston medical ahead of Tottenham loan exit and new contract signing

Tottenham youngster Troy Parrott is close to leaving the club on a season-long loan, football.london understands.

The 20-year-old is set to have his medical at Championship side Preston North End in order to complete a temporary move away from Spurs but the forward will also sign a new deal with the club. His current deal runs out next summer.

Parrott was part of Antonio Conte's pre-season tour squad to Korea and made appearances in matches against a K League XI and Sevilla, but he didn't attend the weekend's victory over Rangers as he closed in on a fourth loan spell away from the club.

The Republic of Ireland international spent the entirety of last season at MK Dons where he scored 10 goals and he's previously had spells at Millwall and Ipswich.

Parrott is yet to make his Premier League debut for Spurs and hasn't played a first team minute since March 2020 but he still remains a highly regarded player at the club and Ryan Lowe's Preston had to fight off strong Championship interest from Middlesbrough, Swansea, QPR and Sunderland to secure Parrott's signature.

He has been moved down the pecking order at Tottenham with the signing of Richarlison though and a move away would help him gain consistent first team opportunities ahead of a return to N17.
