Troy Parrott handed first senior Ireland call-up as provisional squad announced for Euro qualifier

Tottenham Hotspur youngster Troy Parrott has been given his first call-up by Mick McCarthy for next month's Euro 2020 qualifier against Switzerland.

The 17-year-old Spurs wonderkid has been named in Mick McCarthy's 40-man provisional panel for the big qualifier, which is followed by a friendly against Bulgaria.

Speaking to FAI TV about why the squad was so large, the Ireland boss said: "I dont know what's going to happen between now and the next couple of games.

"We've got Saturday games, Tuesday games, Saturday and then the Saturday before me meet up. Players could get injured before we meet up."

There are additional first call-ups for Stoke City's Nathan Collins and Doncaster Rovers midfielder Kieran Sadlier.
