Troy Deeney is expected to return to Watford training on Wednesday for the first time since activities restarted following the coronavirus shutdown.
The Watford captain had been arguably the most vociferous critic of the Premier League's Project Restart plans, citing concerns over the safety of his young son, who suffers from breathing difficulties, and the increased risk posed to BAME players.
Deeney revealed last week that he and his family had suffered online abuse following his stance against the protocols, but will return after being reassured by meetings with the deputy chief medical officer for England, Jonathan Van-Tam, as well as feedback from those of his team-mates who have already trained.
The 31-year-old, who has continued to train alone near his home in Warwickshire over recent weeks, was expected to return to London Colney on Monday but has been unwell, though his illness was not related to Covid-19.
