Troy Deeney's Watford Fans' Forum appearance was a joy to behold... unless you're Marco Silva

Troy Deeney is officially a fan of Ben Foster. He is also not a fan of Marco Silva.

The Watford captain was an entertaining fixture at Wednesday night's fans' forum, never shy with an opinion. Some may even have referred to it as 'refreshing' in the modern game.

Here is a selection of his answers, via The Hornets' Nest, first on the secret of the good team spirit.

"Digging in in pre-season. Players pushing each other and playing pool games for money."

Gambling, then.

Next up for Watford is the visit of an Everton team led by former manager Marco Silva and there is, evidently, still some bad blood between captain and coach.

Silva was sacked midway through last season after a run of one win from 11 games followed Everton's reported approach for the manager. In their statement confirming Silva's dismissal, Watford credited Everton's interest as a "catalyst" for the downturn in form.

Definition of head being turned. So, what does Deeney think of the weekend reunion?

"The people who work at Everton are fantastic. Not the manager.

"We'd prefer it if you left him alone... It'll only motivate them more. Leave him alone, let us kick the s*** out of them."

It wasn't just Silva who caught a sharp tongue from Deeney. When asked if Watford's form will be dropping off in the second half of season, the captain, with tongue very much in cheek, replied:

"Put the beer down pal, I think you're chatting s***."

One man who has been a welcome arrival at the club is Ben Foster, coming from West Brom in the summer and quickly establishing himself as one of the signings of the season.

Deeney's take is similarly effusive.

"The guy eats s***, trains twice a week, turns up on a Saturday and is f****** unbelievable."

Finally a word from Deeney, who is now in his thirties and ninth season at Vicarage Road, on how he hopes to be remembered come time to hang up his boots.

"Just being Troy... You've seen me grow, you've seen my mistakes and change from a boy to a man."

Like we said, an entertaining night.
