Troy earned a 49–23 victory over Appalachian State in the Sun Belt championship on Saturday, giving the Trojans their second straight conference title.
While the final made the game look like a blowout on paper, things were tight throughout, with Troy’s lead at just 21–17 heading into the fourth quarter before the Trojans dropped 28 points on the Mountaineers in the final 15 minutes.
During a stretch of extremely tight action, Troy coach Jon Sumrall absolutely lost his mind after referees missed what should have been a pretty easy facemask penalty on App State.
Sumrall ran down the sideline and out onto the field to make his case, and had to be held back by a series of his fellow coaches on the sideline.

While Sumrall's tantrum couldn't turn back the clock on the missed call, the Trojans were rewarded with a defensive pass interference penalty on the very next play that cynical fans would identify as a make-up call.
Luckily for Sumrall, the play ultimately didn't come back to bite the Trojans, and Troy is the Sun Belt champion for the second straight year. Hopefully those assistants that helped hold Sumrall back get a nice bonus.
