All the usual fall trout sites in Cook County will be stocked with trout, including the ones at Forest Preserves of Cook County sites, according to Illinois Department of Natural Resources fisheries chief Mike McClelland.
Wolf Lake at William Powers State Recreation Area will operate at usual, opening, as traditional on the third Saturday in October, Oct. 17.
No word yet on how the FPCC sites will be operated during the pandemic and with the recommended protocols.
The opening weekend of both spring and fall trout seasons in Illinois, especially in Cook County, typically draw hundreds to the major sites.
In the spring, many forest preserve districts and conservation districts went to a sort of soft opening, meaning openings were not formally announced and only those in the know knew when sites opened.
